Hi there, friend. call me katie.
(That’s what my family calls me.)
When people ask me what I do for a living, I explain that I document both life’s most amazing memories and also life’s most mundane memories—and I adore them both equally. I have been photographing weddings for nearly five years now, with well over one hundred under my belt. I am constantly in awe of the fact that I get to spend such a special day with the sweetest couples and the people they hold most dear. I also have the honor of photographing multiple families each week. I realized this year that I have seen some of these families five+ times and it is such a joy to see their lives unfold. I love when they welcome new additions, but I also love capturing them spending a quiet morning at home, or in any of their favorite locations.
My artistic style is based on the timeless look of real, tangible film photos. There is nothing like film—it has a depth and vulnerability that is unmatched. I never want your memories to look dated, so I take great care in carefully hand editing each photo to a clean, bright look.
If I had to share only one thing about myself, it would be that I love Jesus. Sharing that love with others truly is the basis for everything I do. I believe that my creativity is a blessing and something that should be used to glorify God, build relationships and love those around me well.
My husband and I have been renovating an 1870 row house for a couple of years and I’m thrilled to be getting to the point where I can finally make it feel like home. Sundays are for self care and you can usually find me grabbing brunch, spending time near water and then getting into my current favorite show. If you’re interested in personality tests, I’m a Enneagram 4 and Myers Briggs INFP. I believe in naps and coffee to get through each day. Traveling and gratitude journaling have changed my outlook on life. I will never turn down a good charcuterie board. My music taste is eclectic, but I mostly rotate between John Mayer, James Taylor & Fleetwood Mac. Those create your own candle places get me every time because who doesn’t want their life to smell like amber and leather and the outdoors on the most beautiful sunny September day? Also, I’ll probably show up to hang out in mostly black because let’s be honest, it’s really easy.
I am so thankful to have a job that I truly love showing up for each day, but there are some things that remind me even more just why I love it. These include: couples who are so excited to get married that their joy is infectious, meaningful and picturesque wedding locations, unique traditions and family heirlooms, ditching the shot list for the real story, cozy in home sessions with brunch and bare feet and clients who become friends.
If you’ve made it this far and said “me, too!” to any of that, and if you are looking for an experience that is both creative and intimate, you are in the right place. I’d love to get to know you.
